Before we head back to NZ in October we will have 10 days exploring Corfu. Hopefully the weather will still be good and the crowds will have dissappeared!
Corfu Town
What a top place. Lots of hustle and bustle. Still plenty of tourists but its the main town in Corfu so plenty happening.
We met our good friends Kate and Hatt from NZ. By chance they were on Corfu at the same time so we had a couple of great nights catching up.
Lars and Derya arrived from Amsterdam. Wonderful they could join us for a few days. We spent the first morning checking out the old port and city walls until the rain came in force.
After a couple of nights in Corfu town we headed North to the town of Kassiopi.
Kassiopi
Kassiopi is a lovely town on the Northeastern side of Corfu.
We took a drive up in the hills to see the oldest village in Corfu – dating back 1000 years. Largely abandoned today – Old Peritheia.
We also went into a cave.
Our Airbnb had a pool table so we had a game each night. Lars and Derya were the overall champions!
Lars organised a little tiki tour and visited a few cute little seaside villages around Kassiopi.
We farewelled Lars and Derya who flew back to Amsterdam. We had a wonderful few days with them and wont see them until 2027.
Helle and I headed to the Southern end of Corfu to stay a few nights in Boukari.

We took a drive up to an old village – Chlomos
Driving in some of the small villages can be nerve racking.
The South appears far less affluent than the North. Roads generally in Corfu are terrible – not a lot spent on maintenance!
But there is a lot to like about Corfu – clear lovely water, charming villages, tavernas by the sea and of course greek salads!
Paleokastritsa
Our last rwo days we headed to the west coast of Corfu. Nothing is very far but with the roads as they are 40 kms took over an hour!
The main beach was packed with lounges and umbrellas. I would imagine in the high season it would be horrible!
We drove up the hill and checked out Lakones and an old castle.
Our 3 month trip has come to an end. Great way to spend it on a Greek Island in September. I think that will become a habit!
