Helle and I lived in Copenhagen for a couple of years. What a wonderful place!
I loved the people, the harbour, the walking street, Nyhavn, the lovely old buildings, the seasons and parks of Copenhagen. Being flat as a pancake you can jump on a bike and just explore.
Autumn 1993 – Outside Rosenborg Castle

After work in the summer we would head off cycling as the days were long. From where we lived we could follow the coast to a beautiful park called Dyrehaven.

Helle leading the charge with Rocky struggling to keep up

We loved all the old buildings and thatched roofs

Charlottelund Slot – close to where we lived

The old town – Lyngby

You can wander about and see how the Danes lived hundreds of years ago

The grand Rosenborg Castle and lovely gardens

Tivoli Gardens – right in the heart of Copenhagen

You can walk or cycle the coastline in Copenhagen

We ventured out and about Copenhagen and found some top spots not far away
The magnificent Frederiksborg slot in Hillerod

Hillerod is also a great place to shop

We loved wondering the old streets of Dragor

Rocky and Helle in Taarbaek – just out of Copenhagen

Helsingor – North of Copenhagen

Hornbaek beach – and lots of jellyfish

We popped over to Sweden and camped in some great places. In Sweden you could free camp anywhere there was water.
So we would ask the property owner and just set up camp

We always found a spot by a lake as they are everywhere in Sweden

Tables and chairs were provided

Every night we camped somewhere different

We loved our short stay in Sweden. Like the Danes they love their flags.

Many towns have the old cobbled streets and charming buildings

We don’t have architecture like the Swedes

We loved our time living in Denmark. Great people, good attitude to work life balance, easy to get about and some lovely parks and buildings to visit. Our son Lars was born in Copenhagen so the city holds some great memories.

Lars 30 years later – enjoying a beer just like his Dad!
